In-line editing for this specific page, showing our What You See Is What You Mean editor which allows non-technical site editors to produce perfectly coded, semantic webpages
The Lucid CMS has been designed to make administrative tasks as simple and intuitive as possible. To this end, all content creation and editing is "in-line". Put simply, once you're logged in as the site's administrator, "Add" or "Edit" links appear on each page you view.
Clicking either of these links calls up an appropriate form that provides full control over the page and its content.
The form is broken up into multiple tabbed sections, each of which gives the site editor the ability to modify specific parts of the page. There's no need to have any knowledge of HTML to produce great looking pages, our WYSIWYM editor has an interface similar to Word.
The standard system provides complete granular control over the following visible page elements and meta data…
Main page content
- The text that appears as the body of the page
- Edit the text using the WYSIWYM editor, or with direct access to the source code
- Sites that have multiple layouts available allow the template to be selected
Right column content
- The text that appears in the right column of the page
Page summary (the summary can be displayed on the parent page)
- An alternative heading for the summary - the main page H1 is used if this is empty
- The text that appears as the summary for the page
- The text that is used in the link to the page when the summary is shown
- The ability to switch the display of the summary on or off
Essential page data
- The URL of the page - unsuitable characters are converted so you avoid illegal URLs
- The main heading (H1) of the page - it's important to have only one H1 per page
- The text that is used in the link to the page within the main navigation system
- The text that is used in the breadcrumb navigation for the page
- The published state of the page - pages can be turned on and off at will
Hidden (meta) page data
- The Title Element of the page - vital for SEO purposes
- The Meta Description for the page - again, important for search engines
- The Meta Keywords for the page - not so important now, but there if you want it
How many pages can I create with the system?
The standard system allows for the creation of pages up to four folder levels deep. Google's SEO guide specifically states that you should "Avoid having deep nesting of subdirectories". This page that you are currently looking at is a fourth level page…
